

Hundred Days in Charge as Shipping Deputy Minister to the President | A presentation for CMC from Shipping Deputy Minister, H.E. Ms. Marina Hadjimanolis | 27.06.2023, 18:30, Gazebo, Limassol Marina.
On 27th June 2023 Cyprus Marine Club had the honor to host the Shipping Deputy Minister to the President, Ms. Marina Hadjimanolis who was sharing with us her first impressions of over 100 days in the Shipping Deputy Ministry Office. Mrs. Marina Hadjimanolis was officially appointed a Shipping Deputy Minister on March 1st, 2023.
President of the Cyprus Marine Club, Captain Eberhard Koch, in his opening statement, expressed, on behalf of all Board Members and Members, the appreciation to Ms. M. Hadjimanolis for accepting the invitation as our guest speaker and sharing her precious time.
The President advised that he was very happy about the high number of participants at the event (over 130 guests registered) and announced the Italian Summer Event on July 28th.
In her presentation, Ms. Marina Hadjimanolis eagerly shared the Shipping Deputy Ministry’s goals and plans for the near future, with a strong emphasis on collaboration, innovation, and competitiveness, and outlined a comprehensive roadmap aimed at propelling Cyprus to the forefront of the global shipping landscape.
Ms. Hadjimanolis highlighted the competitive advantages of the Cyprus Shipping Cluster, emphasizing Cyprus’s robust maritime infrastructure, and skilled workforce, as well as the active involvement in influential international shipping fora, including the IMO, ILO, and EU. The Shipping Deputy Ministry’s plans include among others, the implementation of the One Stop Shipping Centre, which will simplify procedures, and ensure a more flexible, effective, efficient and customer-oriented service, as well as the implementation of the Shipping Limited Liability Company (S.L.L.C), which will provide additional benefits for such companies. Completing the digital transformation of all services, promoting gender equality in shipping through collaboration with the Commissioner for Gender Equality, and raising public awareness about the importance of maritime-related professions were also identified as key objectives.
Ms. Marina Hadjimanolis expressed her gratitude to the Cyprus shipping industry and emphasized its importance as a valuable asset, with significant political and economic advantages. She highlighted the government’s strong commitment to the shipping sector and its determination to lead the way towards a new era.

The presentation concluded at 19:15hrs and brought further fascinating conversations among an enthusiastic audience, who explored interesting topics with the Minister and continued sharing their thoughts during the cocktail and the rich buffet that followed and lasted until very late evening.
