On Friday, 19^th April 2024, the Cyprus Marine Club (CMC) hosted the Get Together with a presentation from Mr. Filippos Filippou, Environmental Officer from the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment.

The presentation provided a detailed examination of the significant components introduced by the new Emissions Trading System Directive. It comprehensively outlined the stakeholders impacted by the Directive, with a particular focus on the responsibilities that shipping companies will need to undertake. The session included a clear timeline of the compliance year and delved into specific challenges posed by the Directive, offering essential insights for industry compliance.

Following the presentation, there was an interactive Q&A session where attendees engaged directly with the speakers. This segment proved invaluable as it allowed for additional clarification on the new regulations, facilitating a deeper understanding of the Directive’s implications. This dialogue between the speakers and the audience highlighted the community’s keen interest in achieving environmental and regulatory goals.

The reception was attended by approx. 80 guests. The President of Cyprus Marine Club, Capt. Eberhard Koch, in his opening statement, before giving the floor to the speakers welcomed new Members of the Cyprus Marine Club and announced the Gala Dinner to be held on occasion of 25^th Anniversary of the CMC on 24^th May 2024 at Amara Hotel.

The gripping presentation of Filippos and Chrystalla brought on further fascinating conversations among an enthusiastic audience, who explored interesting topics with our speaker and continued sharing their thoughts during the cocktail reception.
