Limassol, 19 September 2025 – The Cyprus Marine Club welcomed back its members and friends yesterday evening for the first gathering after the summer break, combining an exclusive presentation by Capt. Anastasios Leonburg – Senior Marine Risk Consultant at Allianz, Germany, with networking, updates on upcoming activities, and expert industry insights.
Opening the evening, the Club’s President, Capt. Eberhard Koch expressed appreciation to members who participated in the 2025 Questionnaire circulated in July. The feedback, which was reviewed earlier in the day at the Board Meeting, highlighted the importance of networking in the maritime industry and reaffirmed the value members place on exchanging ideas and experiences.
Two new individual members, Nicholas Sozos and Tobias Keppel, were also warmly welcomed into the Club’s growing network.
Looking ahead, the Club announced a dynamic programme for the coming months, with October set to be especially active:
Further highlights of the 2025 programme include the Sushi Experience and Extraordinary General Meeting (13 November 2025), presentation by Mr. Dieter Rohdenburg, CEO InterMaritime Shipmanagement (2 December 2025).
The evening concluded with a keynote presentation by Captain Anastasios Leonburg, Senior Marine Risk Consultant at Allianz, titled “Shipping in Review 2025.” Captain Leonburg shared his expertise on the current challenges, trends, and opportunities shaping the maritime industry, offering valuable perspectives to the Club’s members. He expanded on the increasing geopolitical risks that are exerting a significant and often negative impact on shipping. Additionally, he addressed the ambitious goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050, while the industry continues to grapple with the lingering effects of the COVID pandemic.
With a strong line-up of activities and continued focus on meaningful networking, the C.M.C.L. Cyprus Marine Club looks forward to an energetic and engaging final quarter of 2025 and equally entertaining 2026.
