  • Capt. Koch is the Chairman, CEO and a Partner of Oesterreichischer Lloyd Shipping Group.
  • He received his diploma in Nautical Sciences (Dipl-Naut.) at Hochschule fuer Nautik in Bremen (University of Bremen) in 1974.
  • Capt. Koch has extensive industry experience as a Captain, Manager and Owner. From 1977-1984 he served as Manager of Transport / Business Admin for VEBA OEL AG Group (nka EON) and from 1984-2001 he was Managing Director at Krohn Shipping Group in Vienna.
  • Capt. Koch joined Oestereichischer Lloyd as a Partner in 1991 and became Chairman and CEO in 2001.
  • Member the Board of Cyprus Union of Shipowners.
  • Capt. Koch is a Member of the Advisory Board of CCS Mediterranean.
  • Capt. Koch is the Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Cyprus Maritime Academy.
  • Capt. Koch is the Vice President of the Cyprus German Business Association.

Mr Nicos Attas is Survey Station Manager of RINA in Cyprus, one of the leading IACS classification societies and he is responsible for all marine activities in Cyprus.

He holds a Master’s degree (Diplom-Ingenieur) in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Karlsruhe in Germany. He has extensive experience in the certification and classification of ships and offshore structures as well as with the implementation of IMO ship safety and pollution prevention requirements and regulations.

Besides working for RINA, he served in the past for many years with the Cyprus Shipping Deputy Ministry (ex-Department of Merchant Shipping).


Lazaros Charalambous

Lazaros is the Managing Director of Mare Magna Shipmanagenent Ltd, a newly established shipping company in Limassol. Within this role, he is passionate about recruitment, training, and the long-term nurturing of sea-going personnel, their welfare and well-being.

Before that he was a Managing Director of an international ferry company as well as an elected Board Member of the Cyprus Shipping Chamber.

He is currently serving on the Board of the Cyprus Marine Club and is looking forward to continuing to offer his services to the local shipping community via the CMC. It is his honour to support the purpose and goals of the Club, including the promotion of the interests of Cyprus Shipping to further the reputation of the Cyprus flag, as well as protecting the interests of its Members, both nationally and internationally.

Mr Chrysostomou is a seasoned professional in the shipping industry. He holds an MBA (Master’s in Business Administration) and he graduated from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne, UK, with a Bachelor of Engineering in Naval Architecture and Shipbuilding.

Mr Chrysostomou, in his long-standing career, before joining Tototheo Maritime as CSO and Marine-Fields Holdings as CEO, was the Director of the Department of Merchant Shipping, (the Maritime Authority of Cyprus), CEO of Transmed shipping Co. Ltd. And Act. Secretary-General of CLIA Europe.

He also held senior management roles in fields such as safety and security, protection of the marine environment and administration. He also served as the elected Chairman of the Design and Equipment Subcommittee of the IMO and the Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC). He was twice elected and re-elected Chairman of the International Mobile Satellite Organization and served as a member of the Board of Governors of the World Maritime University (WMU). He also served as President of the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science & Technology (IMAREST).

Mr Chrysostomou currently is serving as the Executive Director of the Clean Shipping Alliance.

Mr Sunil Kapoor is the Director of FML Ship Management Limited in Cyprus, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Fleet Management Limited, a Caravel Group Company. The company was established by Mr Kapoor in 2007. He has an engineering background with a degree in Marine Engineering from DMET, Calcutta, a leading university in India. He began his career at the Shipping Corporation of India (SCI). During his tenure with the SCI from 1981 to 1992, Mr Kapoor spent most of his time at sea.

After sailing with SCI, Mr Kapoor came ashore in 1993 to work with Lloyds Register as a Surveyor based in India for about three years.

After this, in 1996, Mr Kapoor joined Fleet Management Limited in Hong Kong as a Technical Superintendent. Over the years, Mr Kapoor has risen through the ranks of Fleet Management to his present role as the Director of the Company’s Cyprus operations.

He is also a board member of the Cyprus Marine Club and Cyprus Shipping Chamber and Cyprus Maritime Institute. Mr Kapoor sits on the Technical committees of all the major Classification societies.

Michael Filippou is the Chief Executive Officer of the Cyprus Union of Shipowners, acting as Policy Adviser to the Executive Committee. After completing his Army service, he moved to Athens where four years later, in 2002, he graduated as Maritime Economist from the University of Piraeus.

After a short working period at Piraeus he moved to New York where he earned a Master’s Degree in “International Transportation Management” from the State University of New York. Further to that, he earned a Graduate Certificate in Charter Parties.

The main area of his expertise is Risk Management related to shipping companies and International Maritime Policies.

Born in Famagusta County, Cyprus on 23rd November 1962. He graduated in Commercial Operation of Shipping at the City of London University and I joined Zela Shipping Co Ltd – Operation Department, (London based Company), in January 1988. Further enhanced his education in Shipping by successfully completing the professional qualifications of The Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers and The Chartered Institute of Transport. He was elected a full member of The Chartered Institute of Transport in 1993 and a Fellow of The Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers in 1995.

He was appointed to the Zela Shipping’s Board of Directors in 2002 where he served until the end of August 2014. In September 2014 he was assigned the responsibility by the Principals/Shareholders to manage the newly formed Ship Management Company in Limassol, Cyprus under the name of: “Olympia Ocean Carriers Ltd”. He commenced duties on 1st September 2014 in the capacity of C.E.O (Chief Operating Officer), responsible for the safe management and operation of seven (7) vessels dry bulk carriers’ Cape Size type of 170,000 – 180,000 metric tons and three (3) dry bulk carrier Kamsarmax type of 82,000 metric tons.

Member of the Cyprus Maritime Academy Board of Governors since April 2016. Member of the Board of Directors of the CMMI (Cyprus Marine & Maritime Institute) since July 2019.

President of the Famagusta Shooting Club and since January 2016, he has been elected and currently serving with the Committee Members and President of The Cyprus Shooting Sport Federation. A board member of the International Shooting Federation FITASC since July 2017.

Mr. Harris Rupert

Mr. Harris Rupert is the CEO of Steamship Mutual’s European P&I Club, which is based in Limassol and underwrites about a third of the Steamship Group’s business.

Rupert started his working life as a navigating officer in the British Royal Navy, before practising as a barrister in the UK. He joined Steamship Mutual in 1995 as a claims handler before moving across to the underwriting side of the company. He has been a member of the Club’s senior management team for 18 years and has undertaken many roles within the Club in that time, including head of European underwriting and reinsurance. Rupert sits on the International Group of P&I Clubs Reinsurance Committee.

Mr. Kasapis Kostas has been with UMAR Shipping Services since 2009 and holds the position of Sales Representative Manager. Kostas is responsible for the day to day running of the UMAR Shipping Services sales departments globally.

He was born and raised in South Africa and completed his studies at Rand Park High School in Johannesburg.

In 2001 he immigrated to Cyprus and in 2015 continued his studies by enrolling in the CIIM MBA program.

Mr Meyering joined Marlow Navigation in 1989, serving in various senior positions while specialising in crew management. He also spent five years in total working in crew management at Marlow’s Hamburg and Rotterdam offices.

Now with over 37 years of experience in the shipping industry, Jan Meyering is a leading figure in the global crewing sector. At Marlow Navigation, he focuses on all matters concerning crew and ship management at the company, business development and customer retention, as well as crew training matters throughout the Marlow network.

Jan Meyering graduated as a shipping merchant from the Bremen College for Shipping and Transportation.

After completing her Postgraduate Diploma in Commercial Operations of Shipping in London, Anna started her career in marine insurance in 1987, for two major London Lloyd’s broking firms.

In-between insurance postings Anna worked in shipowning and ship management companies in Cyprus and 1994, she co-founded Aphentrica Marine Insurance Brokers Ltd, where she is currently Director and responsible for the development, placement and servicing of the company portfolio.

Anna is a member of the Board of Directors of the Cyprus Shipping Chamber since 2015 where she also chairs the Marine Insurance Committee and through the Chamber, she is a member of the Marine Insurance Committee of the International Chamber of Shipping. She has previously served as Chairwoman of the Public Relations committee of the CSC while also being a member of several other committees. She is President of WISTA Cyprus and a member of the advisory board of the Department of Maritime Transport & Commerce of Frederick University.

She is frequently invited to address several shipping seminars and shipping-related conferences as a panellist or guest speaker.
