  • Capt. Koch is the Chairman, CEO and a Partner of Oesterreichischer Lloyd Shipping Group.
  • He received his diploma in Nautical Sciences (Dipl-Naut.) at Hochschule fuer Nautik in Bremen (University of Bremen) in 1974.
  • Capt. Koch has extensive industry experience as a Captain, Manager and Owner. From 1977-1984 he served as Manager of Transport / Business Admin for VEBA OEL AG Group (nka EON) and from 1984-2001 he was Managing Director at Krohn Shipping Group in Vienna.
  • Capt. Koch joined Oestereichischer Lloyd as a Partner in 1991 and became Chairman and CEO in 2001.
  • Member the Board of Cyprus Union of Shipowners.
  • Capt. Koch is a Member of the Advisory Board of CCS Mediterranean.
  • Capt. Koch is the Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Cyprus Maritime Academy.

Nicos Attas

He holds a Master’s degree (Diplom-Ingenieur) in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Karlsruhe in Germany. He has extensive experiences in the certification and classification of ships and offshore structures as well as with the implementation of IMO ship safety and pollution prevention requirements and regulations.

Before joining RINA in May 2021, he held the position of Marine Chief Executive at Bureau Veritas. He served in the past 19 years with the Cyprus Department of Merchant Shipping, in the capacity of a Marine Surveyor A’. From 2001-2005, he was appointed Maritime Consul of the Republic of Cyprus in Hamburg. He represented Cyprus in IMO and other international, EU and regional maritime bodies including EMSA. Furthermore, he holds several professional qualifications, and among others, he is a qualified Marine Surveyor, Lead Auditor for Marine Management Systems (ISM/IPSP), Lead Auditor for Quality Management Systems ISO 9001/ISO14001 and authorized MLC Inspector.

Born in Cyprus, Mr. Thrasos Tsangarides studied marine engineering and sailed for a number of years before continuing his studies in petrochemical engineering.

He continued his studies in Scotland and the UK and has been awarded with MBA in leadership and sustainability with several published research papers. During his professional career, he served the maritime industry from various positions.

Since 2000, he is the founder and CEO of a group of companies; with headquarters in Cyprus and offices in Greece, Russia, U.A.E. and Singapore. Mr. Tsangarides served as a member of the board of directors of the Cyprus Shipping Chamber, he is the Chairman of the International Association of Ship Repairs, and Former Vice President of the Board of Cyprus Port Authorities as well as a member of various professional, financial and academical bodies.

Michael Filippou is the Chief Executive Officer of the Cyprus Union of Shipowners, acting as Policy Adviser to the Executive Committee. After completing his Army service, he moved to Athens where four years later, in 2002, he graduated as Maritime Economist from the University of Piraeus.

After a short working period at Piraeus he moved to New York where he earned a Master’s Degree in “International Transportation Management” from the State University of New York. Further to that, he earned a Graduate Certificate in Charter Parties.

The main area of his expertise is Risk Management related to shipping companies and International Maritime Policies.

Lazaros Charalambous

Lazaros is a Board Member of Cyprus Marine Club since 2020 and for years was the Managing Director of FRS Shipmanagement Ltd., a Cyprus-based entity of the German-headquartered FRS Group.

He is passionate about recruitment, training, and the long-term nurturing of sea-going personnel, leading to very high retention rates.

Lazaros also served as an elected Board Member of the Cyprus Shipping Chamber. It was his honor to support the purpose and goals of the Chamber, including promotion of the interests of Cyprus Shipping to further the reputation of the Cyprus flag, as well as protecting the interests of its Members, both nationally and internationally.

Andreas Chrisostomou

Mr. Andreas Chrysostomou

Mr. Chrysostomou is a seasoned professional in the shipping industry. He holds an MBA (Master’s in Business Administration) and he graduated from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne, UK, with a Bachelor of Engineering in Naval Architecture and Shipbuilding.

Mr. Chrysostomou, in his long-standing career, before joining Tototheo Maritime as CSO and Marine-Fields Holdings as CEO, was the Director of the Department of Merchant Shipping, (the Maritime Authority of Cyprus), CEO of Transmed shipping Co. Ltd. And Act. Secretary General of CLIA Europe.

He also held senior management roles in fields such as safety and security, protection of the marine environment and administration. He also served as the elected Chairman of the Design and Equipment Subcommittee of the IMO and of the Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC). He was twice elected and re-elected Chairman of the International Mobile Satellite Organization and served as member of the Board of Governors of the World Maritime University (WMU). He also served as President of the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science & Technology (IMAREST).

Mr. Chrysostomou’s is been recognized by peers through his carrier by been the recipient of several awards the latest been in March 2020.

Sunil Kapoor

Mr. Sunil Kapoor

Mr. Sunil Kapoor is the Director of FML Ship Management in Cyprus, a Caravel Group Company. Mr. Kapoor has an engineering background with a degree in Marine Engineering from DMET, Calcutta. He began his career at the Shipping Corporation of India – the country’s state Shipping company.

In 1993 Mr. Kapoor came ashore. He worked with Lloyds Register as a Surveyor based in India for about three years. Mr. Kapoor joined Fleet Management Limited, Hong Kong way back in 1996 as a Technical Superintendent and gradually rose to his present rank of Director.

Mr. Kapoor shifted to Cyprus in 2007 to set up the companies branch office in Nicosia. He is also responsible for day to day operations of London, Turkey & Dubai offices. Mr. Kapoor is a member of board of Governors of Cyprus Maritime Academy affiliated to University of Nicosia. He is also a board member of the Cyprus Marine Club in Limassol. Mr. Kapoor sits on the Technical committees of all the major Classification societies.

Athos Kleanthous, born 13 May 1972, married, one child.
Athos graduated from Frederick University in 1994 and holds University of Wales Accounting Diploma.

1994 – 1998 employed at L. Joannides + Co (Auditing and Tax Advisors).
In 1998 employed as Senior Accountant at Oesterreichischer Lloyd Seereederei (Cyprus) Ltd.

And since 2004 holding position of Financial Manager at the same company.
2018 – present active Board Member of Cyprus Marine Club.

Aleksander Legowski

Capt. Legowski has received his MSc Engineer degree of Marine Navigation and Marine Transportation at Merchant Marine Academy in Poland in 1994 and from 1994 until 2007 served as an Officer on board merchant vessel. Capt. Legowski served exclusively onboard ÖL Shipping Group vessels as from 2001 and become Master in 2004. Capt. Legowski joined to shore based operations of ÖL Shipping Group in 2007 as Junior Marine SI/Fleet Training Master. In 2009 he was appointed as Crewing Manager/Marine SI and then in 2011 took position of General Manager. Capt. Legowski was consequently promoted to Deputy Managing Director in August 2013. Finally, in June 2014 Capt. Legowski was appointed by Company’s shareholders at the position of Board of Directors and Managing Director & COO. Since May 2016 Capt. Legowski is additionally acting as Chief Executive Officer & Managing Director of Oesterreichischer Lloyd Ship Management (Lebanon) Offshore Company S.A.L. He is member of several Committees at Cyprus Shipping Chamber, affiliate member of IMaREST, member of Cyprus Masters Mariners Association and V-Chairman of the Academic Advisory Committee of Cyprus Maritime Academy (CyMA).

Jan Meyering

Mr. Meyering joined Marlow Navigation in 1989, serving in various senior positions while specialising in crew management. He also spent five years in total working in crew management at Marlow’s Hamburg and Rotterdam offices.

Now with over 35 years’ experience in the shipping industry, Jan Meyering is a leading figure in the global crewing sector. At Marlow Navigation, he focuses on all matters concerning crew and ship management at the company, business development and customer retention, as well as crew training matters throughout the Marlow network.

Jan Meyering graduated as a shipping merchant from the Bremen College for Shipping and Transportation.
