Limassol, November 14, 2017– At “Home of the Cyprus Marine Club”, Epsilon another Board Meeting was followed by YAMAL Project Presentation given by Capt. Nikolay Spichenok/ Deputy Managing Director & Capt. Maxim Sharov from SCF Management Services (Cyprus).

Yamal is a liquefied natural gas project located deep in the Russian Arctic, a region that is ice-bound for seven to nine months during the year and where the sun remains beneath the horizon for three months at a time. Launched at end 2013, Yamal is not only one of the most complex liquefied natural gas projects ever undertaken; it is also one of the most competitive.

Competitive because it benefits from the vast natural gas reserves situated across the Yamal peninsula.

Complex because it is located above the Arctic Circle, a region that is ice-bound for seven to nine months during the year and isolated from all cities and oil and gas infrastructure. The planned LNG plant will ultimately have three trains with total capacity of 16.5 million tonnes of liquefied natural gas per year. First train will be operational already next month and the full capacity will be achieved by 2021.

Christophe de Margerie, the world’s first ice-breaking LNG tanker which has become the first vessel to dock at Yamal LNG’s terminal at Sabetta Port in Russia proudly flies Cyprus Flag!

Despite the fact that Capt. Sharov was able to transpose thoughts of his audience to cold Syberia, the atmosphere in the Cyprus Marine Club was as always warm and friendly, creating wonderful opportunity for networking.

After the presentation, The Cyprus Marine Club’s President, Capt. Eberhard Koch delivered a short address welcoming everyone and advising of Club’s developments and future anticipated events in early 2018, encouraging Members to proactive support for the Club by attending next events, advertising and proclaiming its establishment among industry colleagues to secure further expansion. The Club is now consisting of 56 corporate and 9 individual members. The President has also announced resignation of Mr. Leaonardos Papafilippou from the Board and at the same time introduced newly appointed Acting Board Member - Mr. George von Oppen/ TMH Limited as Mr. Papafilippou’ s replacement.

The next Cyprus Marine Club Event with Presentation by Mr. George Papanastasiou- Managing Director at VTT Vasiliko is expected to be held at Epsilon on 16th January 2018 but Members will have one more opportunity to meet still this year at splendid “Prive Moet Champagne Dinner” on 1st December 2017 to celebrate transition into new fascinating 2018.

Thanks to Mr. Marios Nicolaou and his wonderful team at Epsilon for making us feel like home in for another time this year!
